IATA and Pharma.Aero Collaborate to Enhance Pharmaceutical Handling Excellence

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Pharma.Aero have announced a strategic partnership aimed at fortifying IATA’s Certification for the Excellence in Pharmaceutical Handling (CEIV Pharma) program.

This program, renowned globally for its standards in pharmaceutical-product handling, is set to undergo significant enhancements following a comprehensive two-year study conducted by the two organizations.

The collaborative effort involved meticulous examination of the CEIV Pharma program, engaging certified entities, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and professionals within the air logistics sector. The culmination of this study was a White Paper, detailing various opportunities for improvement within the program.

Among the key findings of the study were opportunities to elevate the program's profile through increased engagement with authorities and the integration of global best practices. Additionally, enhancements to the certification process, including improvements to training modules, checklist layouts, and Independent Validator qualifications, were identified to ensure a robust foundation for the program's future growth.

Frédéric Léger, IATA Senior Vice President of Commercial Products and Services, emphasized the significance of the CEIV Pharma program as a symbol of quality and excellence in pharmaceutical handling. Léger stated, "This initiative between Pharma.Aero and IATA underscore the continuous commitment to not just maintain but elevate CEIV Pharma certification."

Trevor Caswell, Chairman of Pharma.Aero, commended the collaborative efforts of members in the two-year project, highlighting their dedication to driving innovation and best practices in pharmaceutical logistics. Caswell stated, "Together, as Pharma.Aero, we are driving positive change in pharmaceutical logistics to better serve the needs of patients globally."

The partnership between IATA and Pharma.Aero reflects a shared commitment to excellence in pharmaceutical handling and highlights the importance of collaboration in advancing industry standards.
