Clearsynth Labs Strengthening Domestic Capability for Deuterated Compounds

Clearsynth Labs to set up new manufacturing facility in Patalganga , Maharashtra

2025-09-04

Clearsynth Labs Ltd recently received a strategic grant from the Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, to establish a dedicated manufacturing facility for deuterated reagents, intermediates, and building blocks.

This initiative aims to reduce reliance on imports, boost domestic innovation, and position India as a global leader in the high-value isotope-labeled compounds segment. While the company did not disclose the grant amount, it confirmed that the funding is sufficient to set up the new plant with all the facilities and equipment.

With global demand for deuterated compounds surging across pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and materials science, this investment marks a key step towards import substitution, self-reliance, and innovation-driven growth, the company noted.

Headquartered in Mumbai, with an advanced Innovation Center in Hyderabad, Clearsynth is a global leader in research chemicals, impurities, stable isotopes, and metabolites, catering to industries such as pharmaceuticals, OLEDs, and electronics.

Vijay Ambati, Managing Director and CEO of Clearsynth, offered insights into the grant’s strategic importance, the upcoming manufacturing facility, and the company’s broader expansion plans.

Driving Domestic Manufacturing for Deuterated Compounds

The grant will support the creation of domestic manufacturing capacity for isotope-labeled compounds. This will help reduce import dependence, conserve foreign exchange, foster IP-led innovation, generate high-skill jobs in research and development and chemical manufacture, and establish India as a trusted global supplier in a niche and growing market.

New Manufacturing Facility at Patalganga

The new bulk manufacturing facility will be set up in Patalganga, Maharashtra. We also operate a manufacturing unit in Karad, Maharashtra. In 2018, the Heavy Water Board recognised the potential of non-nuclear applications and initiated a collaboration with Clearsynth to promote the development and manufacture of deuterated products. We also have collaboration agreements with two CMO facilities — one US FDA-approved and another GMP-certified.

Scalable Production Capacity

The facility’s production capacity is scalable, from milligrams to tonnes. Our current production capacity ranges up to 4000 kg per month.

Comprehensive Product Portfolio in Deuterium Chemistry

Our expertise in deuterium chemistry is showcased as a wide product range, including deuterated reagents, deuterated solvents, deuterated intermediates, deuterated building blocks, deuterium labelled products for drug development and deuterated custom synthesis. We receive many enquiries which requires bulk manufacturing of products such as Benzene-d6, Methyl-d3-amine hydrochloride, Iodomethane-d3, Bromocyclopentane-d9, Bromobenzene-d5, Sulphuric aci-d2, Phenol-d5, Sodium Borohydride-d4, Aniline-d5, Tert-butanol-d9, Tert-butanol-d10, Iodobenzene-d5 and many more.

Serving Global and Domestic Markets

From seamless synthesis to large-scale production, we empower both domestic startups and global enterprises with top-tier services tailored to their needs. We serve various geographies like Korea, China, Japan, US, Canada, Europe, etc.

Overcoming Challenges in Scaling Production

As we are supplying globally, in all possible quantities, the major challenge is to fulfil the demand and keep the supply chain smooth. For this, the TDB grant will be of great assistance in setting up a production facility.

Strategic Expansion Ahead

At Clearsynth, we take pride in being distinguished, delivering cutting-edge manufacturing solutions with precision and excellence. We are considering other segments in the chemical industry. Right now, we are more focused to have a tight grip and deep roots in deuterium chemistry, expanding opportunities in multiple application areas.

Clearsynth Deutero specialises in the development and manufacturing of deuterated reagents, intermediates, and novel compounds for applications in pharmaceuticals, OLEDs, semiconductors, and fiber optics. Since 2018, the company has emerged as a global leader in deuterium market, particularly within the Asia Pacific region.

The company, which is backed by globally recognised quality certifications—ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO 17034:2016, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, FDA Registration, and DSIR Recognition— currently holds two granted patents and has filed over 60 others (10 complete and 53 provisional) across its innovation pipeline.
