Abbott India has announced that the Central Government has approved the appointment of Kartik Rajendran as the company’s Managing Director for a five-year term, effective June 14, 2025, to June 13, 2030.

Rajendran brings over 20 years of management and leadership experience to the role. He has been with Abbott for more than eight years, holding several key positions, including General Manager of the company’s Specialty Care business under Abbott Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.

He currently serves as Regional Head for the Southeast Asia Cluster within Abbott’s pharmaceuticals business.

Previously, Rajendran had served as Commercial Director for Abbott’s Hospital Business, India Head for New Products, and Commercial Excellence Head.

Before joining Abbott, he had 16 years of experience across two different industries. He spent six years at McKinsey, working on strategic improvement projects across India, Southeast Asia and China. He began his career in the shipping industry, working in India, Hong Kong and Singapore, leading multicultural teams of different nationalities.

Rajendran holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business and a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Delhi University.
