Akums Signs MoU with Sharda University Agra to Advance Pharma Research

Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sharda University, Agra, to collaborate on pharmaceutical research, technology transfer, and skill development, with an emphasis on strengthening the linkage between academic research and industrial application.

The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation across research, innovation, training, and industry exposure, combining Sharda University’s academic capabilities with Akums’ pharmaceutical manufacturing and research expertise. The partnership aims to support applied pharmaceutical research while enhancing student employability in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

As part of the collaboration, the two institutions will undertake joint research projects focused on molecules and drug delivery technologies. The MoU also provides for technology transfer initiatives to help translate academic research outcomes into commercially viable pharmaceutical products.

Students of Sharda University will gain access to internship opportunities at Akums’ manufacturing facilities, offering hands-on exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality systems, regulatory practices, and research and development functions. In addition, industrial visits will be organised to familiarise students with industry operations and best practices.

The partnership also includes plans to jointly conduct seminars, workshops, and technical training programmes aimed at strengthening practical learning, technical competencies, and industry readiness.

Akums and Sharda University will further collaborate on joint project development initiatives focused on applying academic research to product development and addressing emerging healthcare needs.

Commenting on the collaboration, Arushi Jain, Director, Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals, said the partnership underscores the importance of industry–academia collaboration in driving innovation and building a future-ready pharmaceutical ecosystem by nurturing talent and accelerating translational research.

Prof. Jayanthi Ranjan, Vice Chancellor, Sharda University Agra, said the MoU marks a significant step toward enhancing experiential learning and applied research for students and faculty, while creating pathways for academic innovations to reach real-world applications.

The collaboration aligns with Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals’ focus on pharmaceutical manufacturing and knowledge sharing, and with Sharda University’s emphasis on industry-oriented education and research.
