Arima Genomics Partners with Active Motif to Expand Global Access to Hi-C Research Solutions

Arima Genomics, a cancer diagnostics company specialising in 3D genome analysis, has entered into an exclusive distribution partnership with Active Motif Incorporated to expand the availability of its Hi-C research products while strengthening its focus on clinical cancer diagnostics.

Under the agreement, Active Motif will receive exclusive distribution rights to Arima's portfolio of Hi-C-based 3D genomics research kits and services for non-formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (non-FFPE) sample types, including cell lines, blood samples and fresh-frozen tissues.

The research tools are used across a range of applications, including epigenetics, gene regulation, human disease research, reference-quality genome assembly and haplotype phasing, supporting functional and evolutionary genomics studies.

According to Arima Genomics, the partnership forms part of its broader strategy to concentrate resources on expanding its clinical diagnostics business. The company's proprietary Hi-C sequencing technology enables analysis of the three-dimensional structure of cancer genomes using routine FFPE tissue samples, helping identify clinically significant genomic alterations that may be missed or only partially characterised by conventional diagnostic methods.

The technology underpins Arima's Aventa clinical testing platform, which includes Aventa FusionPlus for solid tumours and Aventa Lymphoma for blood cancers. These diagnostic tests are designed to detect actionable gene fusions and structural rearrangements that can support more informed treatment decisions.

Tom Willis, Chief Executive Officer of Arima Genomics, said the company believes the future of cancer diagnostics lies in combining DNA sequence and structural information to better understand the genomic drivers of disease. He noted that the partnership enables Arima to dedicate greater resources to advancing its Aventa clinical diagnostics platform while ensuring continued access to its research technologies through Active Motif's established commercial network and scientific customer base.

Commenting on the agreement, Malek Faham, Chief Scientist at Illumina Ventures, said Arima has developed a differentiated technology platform capable of transforming the detection and interpretation of clinically relevant genomic alterations in cancer. He added that the collaboration allows the company to focus on clinical applications where its technology has the potential to overcome limitations associated with conventional genomic testing.

Arima Genomics develops cancer diagnostic tests based on advances in 3D genome science and Hi-C sequencing technology, with clinical testing services offered through its CLIA-certified laboratory in Orlando, Florida.

Active Motif provides epigenetics, genomics and multiomics research solutions to scientists worldwide, supporting investigations into gene regulation, chromatin biology and disease mechanisms through its portfolio of research products, services and technical expertise.
