AstraZeneca Partners with Algen Biopharmaceuticals in USD 555 Million Gene Therapy Deal

AstraZeneca has entered into a collaboration and licence agreement valued at up to USD 555 million with United States–based biotechnology company Algen Biopharmaceuticals to develop gene therapies targeting rare diseases.

Under the terms of the agreement, Algen will receive an upfront payment and is eligible for milestone payments based on the achievement of development and commercial goals. The partnership aims to combine Algen’s proprietary gene delivery platform with AstraZeneca’s global research and development expertise to advance next-generation genetic medicines.

The collaboration underscores AstraZeneca’s continued investment in cutting-edge therapeutic modalities to address unmet medical needs in the field of rare and genetic disorders.
