BD Launches Research Cloud 7.0 With AI-Powered Horizon Panel Maker to Advance Flow Cytometry Research

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a medical technology company, has announced the worldwide commercial launch of BD Research Cloud 7.0, marking a step in its Artificial Intelligence (AI) roadmap and reinforcing its leadership in flow cytometry and life sciences research.

The latest release introduces BD Horizon Panel Maker, an AI-powered solution designed to automate one of the most critical steps in flow cytometry experiments panel design. The tool supports immunology and cancer research by helping scientists generate high-quality, reliable and reproducible experimental panels.

BD Research Cloud 7.0 offers a comprehensive, cloud-based ecosystem that enables collaboration across research teams, streamlines laboratory workflows and supports operational management, including instrument monitoring and reagent procurement.

Powered by an AI algorithm, BD Horizon Panel Maker delivers optimised panel recommendations within seconds. Researchers can design panels based on custom experimental inputs or select from curated, validated databases. The platform also includes visualisation tools such as comparison tables and complexity scores, enabling faster and more informed decision-making while reducing the risk of unusable or irreproducible data.

Steve Conly, worldwide president of BD Biosciences, said the new release leverages AI to accelerate scientific discovery while minimising complexity and errors. He added that the tool enhances the capabilities of BD FACSDiscover Cell Analyzers and Cell Sorters, enabling researchers to maximise performance across even the most complex experiments.

BD Horizon Panel Maker is currently the only commercially available solution that supports integrated imaging and spectral panel design for BD FACSDiscover instruments.
