BioViva USA Inc. has announced the issuance of US Patent No. 12,653,907, titled Methods of Treating or Preventing Age-Related Disorders, covering therapeutic methods that combine human Telomerase Reverse Transcriptase (hTERT) and Follistatin-344 (FST).
The patent was issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on June 16, 2026, with BioViva USA Inc. listed as the assignee.
The patented approach combines two biological targets associated with different aspects of aging. hTERT is the catalytic component of telomerase and plays a role in telomere maintenance, while Follistatin-344, encoded by the FST gene, is associated with pathways involved in muscle and tissue function.
The patent covers methods in which hTERT and Follistatin-344 are administered in combination for the treatment or prevention of age-related disorders. The issued claims include approaches associated with telomere length, muscle mass and blood-glucose levels.
The patent also covers genetic delivery methods, including the use of Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) vectors.
According to BioViva, the patent strengthens its intellectual-property portfolio focused on genetic approaches targeting biological mechanisms associated with aging and age-related disorders. The company’s research programmes include areas such as telomere maintenance, tissue and muscle biology, metabolic regulation and cognitive function.
BioViva CEO Elizabeth Parrish said the patent represents a milestone in the company’s efforts to develop therapeutic approaches focused on the biology of aging.
