CPHI Milan 2026 is set to introduce four specialist zones focused on technologies and services transforming pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply chains. The zones—AI & Tech, Cold Chain & Logistics, Labelling, and Contamination Control—will be held in Rho, Italy, from October 6–8, 2026.
The initiative aims to create dedicated platforms where pharmaceutical and biotech companies can engage with technology providers, innovators and specialist service companies addressing challenges around regulatory compliance, digital transformation, supply-chain resilience and changing patient expectations.
The launch reflects CPHI Milan’s broader effort to bring adjacent industries into the pharmaceutical ecosystem. Software, logistics, automation, advanced manufacturing, compliance technologies and smart packaging are increasingly becoming integral to pharmaceutical operations and commercialisation.
According to Tara Dougal, Event Director for CPHI Milan, the pharmaceutical industry’s rapid evolution is making collaboration across traditional industry boundaries increasingly important. The new zones are intended to help companies showcase solutions ranging from AI-driven manufacturing and digital compliance to resilient logistics and next-generation labelling.
The AI & Tech Zone will focus on software, digital infrastructure and intelligent technologies supporting pharmaceutical operations. Areas covered will include manufacturing optimisation, quality management, predictive maintenance, regulatory compliance, CRM, real-world evidence and analytics. The platform is expected to connect pharmaceutical manufacturers and CDMOs with technology providers supporting digital transformation.
The Cold Chain & Logistics Zone will address the growing requirements associated with biologics, cell and gene therapies and other temperature-sensitive medicines. It will feature solutions spanning temperature-controlled packaging, real-time monitoring, storage, transportation and supply-chain management, with an emphasis on compliant, resilient and sustainable pharmaceutical distribution.
The Labelling Zone will highlight technologies supporting regulatory compliance, traceability, anti-counterfeiting and patient engagement. Solutions including serialisation, track-and-trace, smart packaging, e-labelling, RFID and sustainable labelling materials will be showcased for pharmaceutical packaging, manufacturing and regulatory teams.
Meanwhile, the Contamination Control Zone, developed in partnership with the International Confederation of Contamination Control Societies (ICCCS), will focus on sterile manufacturing, cleanroom operations and contamination risk management. The zone comes amid increasing regulatory expectations and the implementation of revised EU GMP Annex 1 requirements.
The platform will feature cleanroom specialists, monitoring technology providers, containment equipment manufacturers, sterilisation technology companies and compliance consultants. CPHI Milan and ICCCS aim to establish the zone as a long-term meeting point for manufacturers, suppliers, regulators and innovators involved in contamination control.
ICCCS, which represents contamination-control associations and experts across more than 20 countries, will contribute to certification sessions, technical workshops and knowledge-sharing programmes. The organisation also supports international cleanroom certification programmes and contributes to the development and application of ISO standards.
Hasim Solmaz, Chairman, ICCCS, said the partnership would strengthen the visibility of contamination control within the pharmaceutical industry and help position it as a critical component of product quality and patient safety rather than merely a supporting function.
Andres Silva, Global head of Business Development at Informa Markets, said the collaboration would expand the participation of cleanroom and contamination-control innovators at CPHI Milan while establishing the field as a key focus area for the pharmaceutical industry beyond the 2026 edition.
With pharmaceutical manufacturers facing continued pressure to improve efficiency, maintain compliance, strengthen supply-chain resilience and accelerate commercialisation, CPHI Milan 2026 is positioning the four specialist zones as platforms for collaboration between pharma companies and the wider technology and services ecosystem.
The event is expected to bring together pharmaceutical manufacturers, CDMOs, suppliers, innovators and other stakeholders from across the global healthcare ecosystem, building on CPHI Milan’s international reach.
