The Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) has invited comments from stakeholders on the proposals received for amendments to the Global Tender Enquiry (GTE) Exemption List of Medical Devices.
Following a Public Notice issued on February 11, 2026 seeking feedback on the existing GTE Exemption List, the Department received representations from various stakeholders requesting addition, deletion and/or modification of entries under the list.
All concerned stakeholders, including domestic manufacturers, importers, industry associations, procurement agencies and healthcare institutions, have been requested to submit their comments along with supporting information on or before July 15, 2026.
The consultation follows Public Notice No. MD/2026 dated February 11, 2026, through which the department had sought stakeholder feedback on the current GTE Exemption List. Based on the responses received, several stakeholders have proposed additions and deletions of medical devices from the exemption list, prompting the department to seek broader consultation on the proposed amendments.
Stakeholders have been requested to provide detailed justifications, wherever applicable, covering aspects such as the availability or absence of domestic manufacturing capacity, the number of domestic manufacturers and importers, annual production and supply capabilities, import dependence, availability of alternative sources, applicable standards and regulatory approvals, procurement-related challenges, and the potential impact on public procurement, patient access, affordability, product availability, and healthcare quality.
According to the notice, comments received after the stipulated deadline or without adequate supporting information may not be considered. The notification has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.
