Emcure Pharmaceuticals has announced the consolidation of its ownership in Gennova Biopharmaceuticals by acquiring the remaining 12.05 percent minority stake held by Dr. Sanjay Singh and other shareholders. With the completion of the transaction, Gennova has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Emcure, marking a step in strengthening the group's biologics and biosimilars business.
As part of the transition, Samit Mehta has been appointed to lead Gennova, succeeding Dr. Sanjay Singh, who has guided the company for nearly two decades. Under the new leadership, Gennova will focus on expanding its biologics portfolio, including products such as Elaxim/TENECTASE, Vintor, Xgrast/PEGEX and Hamsyl, while advancing its biosimilars pipeline and adjacent therapeutic platforms. The company will continue leveraging its established mammalian and microbial biomanufacturing capabilities to drive future growth.
Emcure said the move aligns with its ‘One Emcure’ strategy, aimed at integrating Gennova's biologics expertise with the group's broader research and development priorities. The company expects the simplified ownership structure to enhance operational efficiency and support disciplined execution across its biologics and biosimilars portfolio.
The company further stated that the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on its consolidated financial performance or capital allocation strategy. Emcure's deleveraging plans, capital expenditure programme and research and development investments will remain unchanged following the transaction.
