Entod Pharmaceuticals Backs Global Push to Prevent Childhood Blindness at UK House of Lords

Entod Pharmaceuticals, a global ophthalmology-focused pharmaceutical company, reaffirmed its commitment to tackling avoidable childhood blindness in India by participating in global deliberations marking the International Day for a World Without Childhood Blindness.

The discussions, convened by the Eye Foundation of America (EFA) in collaboration with Rotary International, Lions International, the United Nations, the Commonwealth Secretariat and other civil society organisations, centred on advancing prevention-led strategies in paediatric eye care. A key focus area was strengthening early screening and timely intervention for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), a leading cause of preventable blindness among premature infants in India.

Kishore Gurudas Masurkar, Chairman, Entod Pharmaceuticals, and Nikkhil K Masurkar, CEO, represented the company at the commemoration event held at the UK House of Lords. The engagement underscored Entod’s efforts to align global best practices with India’s evolving paediatric eye-care requirements.

A significant highlight of the discussions was the Eye Foundation of America’s pledge of USD 1 million to support the launch of India’s National ROP Programme. The initiative, in partnership with Rotary and Lions, aims to enhance early detection, ensure timely treatment and expand access to specialised care for vulnerable infants.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 on Good Health and Well-Being, the forum reinforced the importance of collaborative, innovation-driven approaches to reducing preventable childhood blindness globally.
