Enzene Launches NeX Platform to Enable Local Biologics Manufacturing Worldwide

Enzene, a global continuously innovative development and manufacturing organisation (CIDMO), has launched NeX, a comprehensive partnership model designed to help governments, healthcare institutions and biopharmaceutical companies establish advanced biologics manufacturing capabilities in their respective regions.

Built on the company's proprietary EnzeneX Fully-Connected Continuous Manufacturing (FCCM) platform, the NeX programme aims to simplify the deployment of modern biologics production by offering an end-to-end, scalable solution that significantly reduces infrastructure costs while improving supply chain resilience and patient access to critical therapies.

The initiative enables organisations to establish local manufacturing facilities using continuous manufacturing technology, allowing biologic medicines to be produced closer to patients. By reducing dependence on conventional large-scale manufacturing plants, the programme is expected to improve affordability, strengthen regional healthcare infrastructure and enhance the availability of life-saving biologic therapies.

NeX provides a complete implementation framework covering facility design and construction support, technology transfer, intellectual property licensing for the EnzeneX platform, workforce training and operational assistance through the commercialisation phase. The programme also includes SparX, Enzene's structured training curriculum, which is designed to develop skilled local talent capable of operating advanced biologics manufacturing facilities.

In addition, organisations participating in the programme may gain access to selected products from Enzene's biosimilar portfolio, enabling regional production of approved biologic medicines where appropriate.

According to Enzene, the platform addresses one of the biggest barriers to biologics manufacturing—the high capital investment associated with conventional fed-batch production facilities. Traditional biologics manufacturing plants typically require investments ranging from USD 300 million to USD 400 million, whereas the company's fully connected continuous manufacturing platform can achieve comparable production capacity with an estimated investment of USD 60 million to USD 80 million.

Himanshu Gadgil, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of Enzene, said the significant reduction in manufacturing costs is made possible through the company's compact and integrated continuous manufacturing architecture, which replaces the large, scale-intensive infrastructure required for conventional fed-batch production. He added that the platform delivers high manufacturing efficiency, strong product yields and long-term cost advantages while supporting the local production of biologic medicines.

Gadgil also revealed that Enzene is currently in discussions with multiple governments and corporate partners worldwide to deploy the NeX platform, with the objective of expanding access to affordable biologic therapies across different regions.

Beyond manufacturing infrastructure, Enzene stated that the NeX programme is intended to help countries build sustainable biopharmaceutical ecosystems by strengthening domestic scientific capabilities, developing skilled workforces, reducing long-term production costs and creating more resilient regional supply chains.

Through the launch of NeX, Enzene aims to accelerate the global adoption of continuous manufacturing technology while enabling countries and healthcare organisations to establish self-sufficient biologics manufacturing capabilities that improve patient access to high-quality, affordable medicines.
