G Square, a European healthcare-focused private equity firm investing in high-growth mid-market companies, has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Serres, a global leader in sustainable surgical fluid management solutions. The transaction is aimed at accelerating Serres’ international expansion and strengthening its leadership in sustainability-driven MedTech solutions.
Paree Group, Serres’ long-standing family owner, will retain a significant minority stake and continue as a strategic partner as the company enters its next phase of growth. Leveraging G Square’s healthcare expertise and proven track record in scaling European healthcare businesses internationally, the partnership aims to develop Serres into a leading global MedTech platform. Growth initiatives will include investment in new product development, enhanced commercial capabilities, and targeted acquisitions to expand market reach.
The transaction positions Serres to build on its strong European presence, accelerate growth in the United States, and further expand its global footprint. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
Kimmo Jyllilä, Chair of the Board of Paree Group, said that while Serres has achieved significant success as a family-owned business, its next stage of growth requires broader international reach and additional resources. He added that G Square’s healthcare expertise, global network, and financial strength make it an ideal partner to support Serres’ long-term ambitions.
Oliver Hoenich, Partner at G Square, described Serres as a European champion with world-class sustainable products and a strong culture of innovation. Yasemin Arik, Partner at G Square, added that the firm looks forward to supporting Serres’ management team in accelerating growth, expanding international presence, and strengthening its leadership in sustainable solutions for surgery and intensive care.
Founded more than 50 years ago and headquartered in Kauhajoki, Finland, Serres has evolved into one of the world’s leading providers of surgical fluid management solutions. Its suction bags and fluid disposal systems are used in over 80,000 surgical procedures daily and are trusted by half of the world’s top 100 hospitals. The company operates advanced, highly automated production facilities in Kauhajoki and Saarijärvi and has embedded sustainability and circularity into its operations long before environmental responsibility became a healthcare priority.
Nicke Svanvik, Chief Executive Officer of Serres, said sustainability is central to the company’s strategy and a key market differentiator. He noted that global demand for sustainable single-use solutions is accelerating, and that the partnership with G Square will enable Serres to expand more rapidly and serve hospitals worldwide with safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible fluid management solutions.
