The Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmacy (GNIP), located in Dalewal, Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, successfully hosted a two-day national conference on the theme “Next-Gen Pharma Trends towards Viksit Bharat.”
The event was organized in collaboration with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Punjab state branch, and served as a significant platform for deliberating the future direction of the pharmaceutical sector in line with India’s development vision.
Speaking to Pharmabiz, Dr. Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, president of the IPA Punjab state branch, highlighted the strong participation at the conference, which attracted over 400 delegates from 10 states. The diverse representation from academia, industry, and research institutions underscored the national importance of the event and enabled meaningful discussions on innovation and self-reliance in healthcare.
The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Susheel Mittal, vice-chancellor of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University. He was joined by eminent dignitaries including Prof. Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, former Dean of UIPS at Panjab University, along with Prof. Parveen Bansal, Dean (R&D), and Prof. Y. S. Brar, Dean Academics, both from IKGPTU.
The event began with a welcome address by Er. Prabhjit Singh, chairman of the Sri Guru Nanak Dev Education Trust. Prof. Rajeev Garg, principal and organizing secretary, outlined the conference objectives, emphasizing the need to bridge the gap between academic research and industry applications to meet evolving global demands.
In his keynote address, Prof. Bhoop spoke about future opportunities in pharmaceutical sciences, focusing on innovation-led research, nanomedicine, and Quality by Design (QbD). He also highlighted the growing importance of regulatory science and stronger collaboration between academia and industry. He encouraged young pharmacists to take on leadership roles in driving India’s healthcare transformation.
The scientific sessions featured insights from leading experts, including Prof. Monica Gulati of Lovely Professional University, Prof. Anil Kumar of Panjab University, and Dr. Manish Goswami. More than 60 poster presentations by emerging researchers added depth to the academic exchange.
The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kanika Tuli, marking the event as an important step toward advancing excellence, innovation, and self-reliance in pharmaceutical education.
