Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with visiting Swiss State Secretary for Economic Affairs Helene Budliger Artieda — joined by a delegation of Swiss pharmaceutical and biotech firms — to discuss expanded cooperation in research and development and investment opportunities in India’s growing healthcare sector. The talks emphasised avenues for Swiss companies to invest in India’s pharma and biotech industries and to leverage the country’s robust healthcare market.
They also reviewed progress under the India EFTA Trade & Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), aiming to deepen collaboration across key sectors and support mutual growth. The meeting reflects India’s push to strengthen ties with global pharmaceutical players, drive innovation-led investments, and enhance healthcare delivery and manufacturing capacity.
Earlier this week, Goyal also held a separate round of discussions with stakeholders from India’s pharmaceutical ecosystem focusing on regulatory reforms, manufacturing expansion, and boosting exports — reinforcing the government’s commitment to making India a global pharma hub.
