Indian Pharma Exports Rise Over Nine Percent in 2024-25: Government

India’s pharmaceutical exports recorded strong growth in the 2024–25 financial year, increasing by over nine percent to about USD 30.47 billion, according to government data.

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal said the growth reflects the strength of India’s pharmaceutical manufacturing base and its expanding footprint in global markets. India is currently the world’s third-largest pharmaceutical producer by volume and ranks fourteenth by value, with more than 3,000 companies and over 10,500 manufacturing units.

Indian pharmaceutical products are exported to over 200 countries and regions, including highly regulated markets such as the United States and Europe. The domestic pharmaceutical market, valued at around USD 60 billion, is expected to grow significantly and more than double by 2030, indicating strong long-term potential for the sector.

The government has been working closely with industry stakeholders to further boost exports, particularly by supporting micro, small and medium enterprises, strengthening regulatory capabilities, and expanding India’s life sciences ecosystem across areas such as biologics, vaccines, and clinical research.
