Iqvia and Duke Clinical Research Institute Partner to Advance Obesity and Cardiometabolic Clinical Trials

Iqvia and the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) have announced a collaboration aimed at improving the conduct of clinical research in obesity and related cardiometabolic conditions.

The partnership brings together Iqvia’s global clinical trial operations, data analytics and technology platforms with DCRI’s academic research expertise and experience in designing and managing large, multi-centre clinical studies. The collaboration will focus on strengthening trial planning, governance, data management and site-level execution to support more efficient study delivery.

Iqvia has conducted more than 120 obesity trials and enrolled over 90,000 patients, including supporting the development of all US FDA-approved GLP-1 therapies. DCRI contributes experience in cardiometabolic and renal research, as well as operational capabilities in site activation, patient enrollment, retention and study management.

The collaboration provides access to research sites across 56 countries and more than 3,000 locations. It also integrates DCRI’s expertise in GLP-1 receptor agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors with Iqvia’s analytics, electronic health records and real-world data capabilities to support trial design and execution.

Both organisations aim to improve coordination in global obesity and cardiometabolic studies and enhance the delivery of clinical data for sponsors, regulators and healthcare stakeholders.

Iqvia operates in more than 100 countries with approximately 93,000 employees and provides clinical research services and healthcare data solutions. The DCRI, part of the Duke University School of Medicine, conducts multinational clinical trials and research across cardiovascular, metabolic and other therapeutic areas.
