Global pharmaceutical major Lupin Limited said its subsidiaries in the Philippines, Multicare Pharmaceuticals, and in Brazil, MedQuimica, have entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Italy-based Neopharmed Gentili S.p.A. to market and promote the gastroenterology brand Plasil (metoclopramide) in their respective markets.

The agreement is aimed at strengthening Lupin’s gastroenterology portfolio while expanding its footprint across key emerging markets. Under the arrangement, Neopharmed will manage the supply of Plasil in the Philippines, ensuring adherence to global quality and compliance standards. In Brazil, manufacturing of the product will be transitioned to MedQuimica’s local production facility.

Fabrice Egros, president of corporate development at Lupin, said the partnership marks an important step in the company’s efforts to expand access to Plasil across high-growth markets. He added that Lupin’s strong local presence, regulatory expertise and commercial capabilities in Brazil and the Philippines, combined with Neopharmed’s product strength, will help broaden patient access and improve treatment outcomes.

Matteo Meazzini, director of business development at Neopharmed Gentili, said the collaboration supports the company’s strategy to grow its international presence while leveraging Lupin’s established market reach to ensure wider availability of Plasil in Brazil and the Philippines.

Plasil is a well-established therapy used in the treatment of nausea, vomiting and gastrointestinal motility disorders, conditions that affect millions of patients worldwide.
