Minor Fire at Aurobindo Pharma's Andhra Pradesh Unit Causes Temporary Production Disruption

Aurobindo Pharma has announced that a minor fire at one of its subsidiary units has temporarily disrupted production. The incident occurred at Unit IV of APL Healthcare Ltd, located in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh (SEZ Unit), on 18 September 2025 at around 8:50 am. The cause was identified as a short circuit in granulation area-10.

The fire spread to an electrical panel and also caused partial damage to granulation area-8. Of the 19 production lines at the site, two will remain out of operation for roughly two weeks.

No casualties or injuries were reported. The company’s in-house fire hydrant team, assisted by external fire tenders, acted swiftly to contain the blaze.

It is estimated that the incident has affected around three per cent of the unit’s monthly production capacity. Refurbishment and restoration work is already in progress, and the damaged areas are expected to resume operations within the coming weeks.

Aurobindo Pharma stressed that it has taken all necessary steps to safeguard employees, protect its facilities and minimise disruption. Management added that the incident will have no material impact on the company’s financial performance or overall operations.
