Moberg Pharma Secures US Patent for Improved MOB-015 Dosing Regimen

Moberg Pharma Secures US Patent for Improved MOB-015 Dosing Regimen

Moberg Pharma AB, a Swedish pharmaceutical company, has received a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) covering an improved dosing regimen for MOB-015, its topical treatment for onychomycosis, commonly known as nail fungus. The US is the first market to grant a patent application relating to the improved dosing approach.

The patent covers new dosing methods for MOB-015 and is supported by clinical data generated through multiple studies. These include studies that supported the product's approval in Europe, as well as the company's recently completed Phase 3 clinical study in North America.

The newly granted patent strengthens Moberg Pharma's intellectual property portfolio and has a projected expiry date in December 2041. The company has also filed applications covering MOB-015 dosing regimens in other markets, where they remain under examination.

The US represents the world's largest single market for onychomycosis and is a key market in Moberg Pharma's long-term strategy. The company holds all rights to MOB-015 in the country and plans to conduct an additional Phase 3 clinical study to support a potential future approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The patent is expected to strengthen the company's intellectual property position as it evaluates development and partnership opportunities in the market.

In the near term, Moberg Pharma will continue to focus on markets where MOB-015 has already received approval or where commercial partnerships have been established. The treatment is currently approved in 14 countries and is marketed under the Terclara brand in Sweden and Norway, where it holds a leading market position.

The company is also preparing for a wider international rollout, including launches in partnership with Karo Healthcare under the Lamisil brand.

Commenting on the development, Anna Ljung, CEO of Moberg Pharma, said that the first patent covering the improved MOB-015 dosing regimen in the US represents an important addition to the company's intellectual property portfolio. She noted that the patent is supported by extensive clinical data and will contribute to strengthening the asset's long-term value as the company evaluates its development and partnership strategy for the US market.
