Modular Medical Completes MODD1 Clinical Study, Advances Toward Next-Gen Pivot Pump Launch

US-based insulin delivery technology company Modular Medical has announced the successful completion of a clinical study with its MODD1 pump.

In the study, nine clinicians with Type 1 diabetes—already using a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and other insulin pumps—tested the MODD1 to provide real-world experience and feedback. The results will help refine the device ahead of the launch of Modular Medical’s next-generation Pivot pump.

The trial was focused on assessing the pump’s ease of use for converting multiple daily injectors. According to the company, the study will continue as it prepares for the Pivot launch.

"We want to thank the clinicians who participated in this trial deployment for their time and feedback on our MODD1 pump, and we look forward to demonstrating improvements in usability when we repeat this trial with the Pivot," said Jeb Besser, CEO of Modular Medical.

The company is planning to submit its Pivot pump product to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for clearance in October 2025.

A development-stage medical device firm, Modular Medical is focused on advancing next-generation insulin delivery solutions. Its first FDA-cleared patch pump is aimed at the USD 3 billion adult “almost-pumpers” market, offering a more user-friendly and affordable option.
