Motorica Introduces Digital Prosthetics to India

Russian MedTech company Motorica has officially launched its Digital Prosthetics Programme in India, marking a significant step toward transforming the production and accessibility of prosthetic solutions in the country.

Through this initiative, Motorica leverages 3D scanning, digital modeling and 3D printing to deliver highly customised mechanical prosthetic arms with unmatched speed and precision. By creating a digital 3D model of the user’s arm, the company eliminates the need to ship physical moulds, significantly reducing production time. The final stages of design, printing, and assembly are completed at Motorica’s advanced manufacturing facility in Moscow, Russia, ensuring consistent quality.

Motorica has already completed its first successful digital prosthetics cases in India, demonstrating the programme’s real-world impact.  The company used photogrammetry, a technique that reconstructs a 3D model from a series of photographs taken with a standard smartphone, to capture the user’s hand geometry. This approach eliminates the need for costly scanning equipment, making the process more inclusive and accessible. In the initial cases, partner clinics in India provided photographs of the user’s limb, while Motorica’s engineering team generated the digital model and assembled the prosthesis in record time.

“Our objective is not to replace traditional prosthetics, but to empower prosthetists with advanced, easy-to-use digital tools,” said Kavinder Beniwal, COO, Motorica India.

“By automating routine processes and optimising workflows, we enable specialists to focus on complex, high-value tasks, while patients benefit from faster access to high-quality prostheses. This digital-first approach allows us to deliver world-class prosthetic care across India, overcoming the barriers of distance and accessibility,” he added.

According to the company, its Digital Prosthetics Programme will serve as a foundation for scaling digitally enabled prosthetic services across India, in partnership with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and NGOs.

Motorica, which specialises in assistive technologies and medical cybernetics, opened its first office in New Delhi in 2025. The company currently partners with over 25 clinics across the country, including Delhi NCR, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, as well as in several other regions nationwide.
