NOVOS, a biotechnology company developing science-backed interventions for healthy aging, has announced positive results from a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trial evaluating its multi-component nutritional intervention, NOVOS Core, in adults aged 40 and older without diagnosed cardiovascular disease.
The six-month study, led by researchers at the University of Surrey, assessed the early and sustained vascular effects of the intervention. The trial was registered on the offcial website of the National Library of Medicine, and the manuscript has been released as a preprint and is currently undergoing peer review.
According to the findings, participants receiving NOVOS Core demonstrated statistically significant improvements over placebo across multiple validated markers of vascular aging. These included early and sustained enhancements in endothelial function, along with significant between-group differences in arterial flexibility and systolic blood pressure. The benefits were observed during the trial and persisted for up to six months.
Researchers noted that improvements of this magnitude and consistency across multiple independent vascular measures are uncommon in human dietary supplement studies. The results represent first-of-its-kind human evidence showing simultaneous positive effects on endothelial function, arterial flexibility and healthy blood pressure, already within the normal range—from a single, multi-component nutritional intervention.
Professor Christian Heiss, senior author of the study and Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Surrey, said the findings suggest that targeting multiple biological mechanisms involved in vascular aging may help support vascular health earlier in life, before overt disease develops. He added that the observed benefits occurred without changes in lipid levels, underscoring endothelial and arterial function as distinct and modifiable components of vascular aging biology.
NOVOS focuses on developing science-backed interventions aimed at promoting healthy aging and longevity.
