Ofichem Group, a European-based contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO), has acquired Avivia, a formulation development firm located in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The strategic move expands Ofichem’s service offering by adding specialised expertise in complex drug formulation development.

Avivia is known for its focus on preformulation, formulation, and analytical method development for challenging pharmaceutical products. The acquisition aligns with Ofichem’s broader strategy to become a fully integrated CDMO, offering end-to-end services from active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) development to GMP manufacturing.

With this acquisition, Ofichem gains a team of 10 experienced scientists skilled in excipient characterisation, stability testing, and dissolution profiling. These capabilities will complement Ofichem’s existing facilities in Ter Apel and Leiden, strengthening its footprint in both European and North American markets.

The move marks a significant step in Ofichem’s transition towards being a science-driven development partner capable of addressing increasingly complex formulation demands. By integrating Avivia’s formulation strengths with its own manufacturing infrastructure, Ofichem is positioned to offer more comprehensive and customised solutions across the drug development lifecycle.
