The Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) has appointed Amitabh Dube as its President for a two-year term, effective September 10, 2026. He succeeds Bhushan Akshikar, who served as president for the previous two years.
Dube is Country President and Managing Director of Novartis India and has nearly three decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with leadership roles across India and international markets. Before his current role, he served as Country President of Novartis Vietnam and chaired the country’s leading pharmaceutical industry association.
Commenting on his appointment, Amitabh Dube, President, OPPI India, said, “It is a privilege to lead OPPI at a time when India's healthcare landscape is undergoing rapid transformation. The innovative pharmaceutical industry has an important role to play in improving patient outcomes, advancing scientific innovation and supporting India's emergence as a global life sciences powerhouse. Welcoming Dube, Bhushan Akshikar highlighted his industry experience, global perspective and understanding of India’s healthcare landscape. OPPI Director General Anil Matai also acknowledged Akshikar’s contribution during his tenure and said Dube’s experience and focus on partnerships would support the organisation’s priorities.
