The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has unveiled the official theme for Pharma Anveshan 2026, an event to be organised nationwide by pharmacy institutions as part of National Pharmacy Education Day celebrations on March 6, 2026.
The theme for this year’s event is “Future Pharma Ecosystem: Fostering Synergy among Academia, Industry, Research, Regulatory and Practice.” According to the Council, institutions are expected to design their programmes in alignment with this focus, promoting stronger collaboration across the pharmaceutical value chain.
PCI emphasised that the event should encourage meaningful engagement between academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies, research organisations, regulatory authorities and pharmacy practitioners. The objective is to strengthen India’s pharmaceutical ecosystem by bridging gaps between education, innovation, regulation and professional practice.
National Pharmacy Education Day is observed annually on March 6 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahadeva Lal Schroff, widely regarded as the father of pharmacy education in India. In 1937, he introduced the country’s first full-fledged three-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) course at Banaras Hindu University, laying the foundation for structured pharmaceutical education in the country.
For Pharma Anveshan 2026, PCI has directed pharmacy institutions to organise programmes on March 6 and ensure broad participation. Institutions have been advised to invite at least 300–400 attendees, including faculty members, researchers, PhD scholars, postgraduate and undergraduate students, industry professionals, representatives of pharmacy associations and regulatory authorities.
The Council has also made it mandatory for institutions to invite PCI members from the respective state as guests, with the option to include them as speakers or panellists based on their expertise. Additionally, institutions are required to submit letters of interest to host the programme.
In previous years, PCI has provided financial assistance to selected institutions to support event organisation, and similar support may be extended for the 2026 celebrations.
The Council has urged all pharmacy institutions to actively observe National Pharmacy Education Day to honour Prof. M. L. Schroff’s legacy and reinforce the importance of advancing pharmacy education and professional excellence in India.
