The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has called on its member exporters to respond promptly to an urgent requirement for medicines raised by the Ministry of Health & Wellness, Government of Mauritius. The appeal follows a formal communication from the High Commission of Mauritius in New Delhi, detailing an immediate need for various essential pharmaceuticals.
Pharmexcil has shared a comprehensive list of 40 medicines sought by Mauritius, which are used in the treatment of leprosy, malaria, tuberculosis (TB), asthma, and bacterial infections of the eye, ear, and skin. The list includes key products such as dapsone 50mg tablets, clofazimine tablets, mefloquine HCL 250mg tablets, rifampicin and isoniazid combinations, bedaquiline 100mg tablets, and a range of topical and oral formulations.
Exporters with marketing authorisations from Stringent Regulatory Authorities (SRAs) or the Mauritius FDA are encouraged to participate. Products must be registered with the Pharmacy Board of Mauritius, GCC countries, or PIC countries. Products registered in non-PIC nations may be considered if the manufacturer is listed with India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) and has inspection records available on global platforms such as WHO-PIR, EUDRA (MHRA), or US FDA.
Participating manufacturers must also submit supporting documents, including a valid Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (CoPP), Free Sale Certificate, and Certificate of Analysis (CoA). Additional conditions require the product’s package insert to be in English, shelf life of 75–80% at the time of delivery, and dispatch via air within a week from award, on a CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) basis.
Pharmexcil Director General Raja Bhanu urged member companies with eligible products to submit their interest swiftly via the designated online form. This initiative, apart from addressing critical healthcare needs in Mauritius, also serves as a platform to reinforce India’s global pharmaceutical leadership.
