On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort in New Delhi, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi highlighted the significant work accomplished in the pharmaceutical sector and called for greater global ambition. He said that India has done a great deal of work in the pharmaceutical sector; however, the need of the hour is for one or two Indian pharmaceutical companies to make their mark among the world’s top 5 pharmaceutical companies.
The PM further emphasised the need to build globally recognised Indian brands across sectors. He said that Indian consulting and accounting firms should also aspire to be among the top firms in the world, while Indian technology companies should aim to become global leaders. He called for creating brands that attract the world and making Indian brands a strong identity of the country and a destination for the world.
