Samsung Biologics has introduced ExellenS, an optimised manufacturing framework designed to enhance standardisation, simplification, and scalability across its biomanufacturing network.  

ExellenS standardises equipment, processes, and functional specifications to ensure that every facility operates with the same precision. It aims to deliver high-quality, predictable outcomes at speed, enabling faster tech transfers, accelerated approvals, and seamless scaling for clients.

The framework integrates Functional Design Specifications (FDS) across all plants, replicating standardised bioreactor configurations and automation systems while allowing tailored improvements for manufacturing execution systems (MES) and continuous innovation. This unified design delivers consistent results while minimising risks.

Samsung Biologics currently operates five plants with a total manufacturing capacity of 784,000 liters. As part of its long-term growth strategy, the company plans to further expand capacity at Bio Campus II—home to its recently operational Plant 5—through 2032. The company also operates a dedicated facility for the development and manufacturing of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and global offices to serve clients worldwide.
