Sanofi and Cheplapharm Announce Strategic Partnership for 20 Mature Medicines and Three Sites

Sanofi and Cheplapharm have announced plans to establish a strategic partnership under which Cheplapharm will acquire a portfolio of 20 mature medicines and three Sanofi manufacturing sites worldwide. As part of the transaction, Sanofi will receive a 26.4% equity stake in Cheplapharm.

The proposed partnership builds on the companies’ collaboration, which began in 2014, and is intended to support the continued availability of established medicines while allowing Sanofi to focus its resources on innovative medicines and vaccines.

The three manufacturing sites included in the transaction are Csanyikvölgy in Hungary, which employs approximately 400 people; Jurong in Singapore, with around 100 employees; and Ploërmel in France, with approximately 65 employees.

Employees at the sites are expected to continue their activities under existing employment arrangements and collective agreements. Sanofi and Cheplapharm will work together on the transition to maintain supply continuity and manufacturing quality standards.

The medicines included in the proposed portfolio transfer include Lovenox/Clexane (enoxaparin). The commercial transfer of the portfolio is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, followed by the transfer of the manufacturing sites, subject to employee information and consultation procedures, regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

The transaction is expected to be fully completed by the third quarter of 2027.

For Cheplapharm, the transaction will expand its portfolio of established medicines and add manufacturing capabilities associated with Lovenox/Clexane. The company also plans to invest in the manufacturing sites and their technical expertise to support the long-term supply of the medicines.

For Sanofi, the partnership is part of its ongoing strategy to streamline its mature medicines portfolio and focus resources on research and development and innovative treatments, while supporting the continued availability of selected established medicines.

Sanofi said the proposed transaction is not expected to affect its 2026 financial guidance. Additional financial details are expected to be disclosed at a later stage.

Cheplapharm is a Germany-based pharmaceutical company specialising in established originator medicines. The company has acquired nearly 100 products since 2015 and holds 3,440 marketing authorisations across 160 countries.
