Sentio BioSciences to Invest USD 10.6 Million in Missouri Manufacturing Expansion

Sentio BioSciences, a vertically integrated pharmaceutical manufacturer headquartered in St. Louis, has announced a USD 10.6 million investment to expand its manufacturing facility in Maryland Heights, Missouri. The move is aimed at bolstering domestic production of generic drugs and strengthening the U.S. pharmaceutical supply chain, according to the Missouri Department of Economic Development (MDED).

The expansion will significantly enhance Sentio’s production capabilities across the entire drug development lifecycle—including key starting materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and finished dosage forms. The project will also introduce new infrastructure to support the company’s growing contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) services. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2026.

As part of the initiative, Sentio plans to create 58 new jobs in the region. The company currently manufactures three pharmaceutical products and is preparing a fourth for submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Its vertically integrated strategy supports both in-house and partner-driven product development from raw materials to finished formulations.

Karthik Raghavan, CEO of Sentio BioSciences, highlighted the strategic focus on reshoring pharmaceutical manufacturing to reduce dependency on international markets and improve the reliability of drug supply chains in the United States.

In addition to physical expansion, Sentio remains committed to building a skilled pharmaceutical workforce. The company is actively investing in workforce development, particularly in upskilling individuals from non-traditional backgrounds to fill critical roles such as pharmaceutical technicians and analysts.

The investment aligns with broader national efforts to strengthen domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing and improve preparedness for future public health needs.
