Siegfried, the Switzerland-based contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO), is expanding its manufacturing presence in the United States through the acquisition of two pharmaceutical production facilities. The move strengthens the company’s position in the world’s largest pharmaceutical market and enhances its small-molecule manufacturing capabilities.

Under the transaction, Siegfried will acquire a commercial-scale manufacturing facility in Wilmington, Delaware, and a clinical active pharmaceutical ingredient development and manufacturing site in Athens, Georgia. Both facilities focus on small-molecule drug substance production and will add significant capacity to the company’s U.S. operations.

Siegfried currently operates manufacturing sites in Wisconsin, California and New Jersey, offering services across the pharmaceutical value chain, from early-stage development to commercial production. The newly acquired facilities are expected to support exclusive synthesis programmes and controlled-substance manufacturing, helping the company meet rising customer demand.

The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. However, the company stated that the transaction valuation is below ten times enterprise value to EBITDA and will be funded through a combination of existing resources and debt. The deal is expected to close later this year and will add approximately 400 employees to Siegfried’s global workforce.

The acquisition aligns with Siegfried’s long-term strategy to expand integrated drug substance and drug product services and drive sustainable growth in contract pharmaceutical manufacturing.
