S&T Minister Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurates Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC)

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology (S&T) Dr Jitendra Singh formally inaugurated the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) Secretariat, on 29 December, by unveiling the inaugural curtain, marking the official opening of a new milestone in India’s biotechnology journey.

This inauguration reflects the Government of India’s strong vision to accelerate innovation, empower researchers, strengthen institutional capacity, and enhance the nation’s global leadership in biotechnology.

With the launch of the BRIC Secretariat, BRIC-DBT is poised to further advance cutting-edge research, promote translational science, foster collaboration, and enable impactful solutions that contribute to India’s development and societal well-being.

As part of the inauguration of the BRIC Secretariat, Dr Jitendra Singh reviewed key initiatives, ongoing programmes, and future pathways to strengthen India’s biotechnology landscape.

BRIC DBT (Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council – Department of Biotechnology) is a premier organisation dedicated to advancing biotechnology research and innovation across India. With 13 affiliated institutes, it drives groundbreaking research in healthcare, agriculture, environmental sustainability, and industrial biotechnology.
