Sunfox Technologies, a Dehradun-based medtech company that developed the Spandan portable ECG platform, has raised USD 7 million (approximately INR 67 crore) in a Series A funding round led by investors Ashish Kacholia, Lashit Sanghvi, Alchemy Capital and 3one4 Capital.
The funding, the largest in Sunfox’s history, will support the company’s next phase of growth, including expansion across India, development of global go-to-market capabilities, organisational scale-up and continued investment in research and development.
Founded in Uttarakhand in 2016, Sunfox began as an R&D initiative focused on addressing gaps in timely cardiac assessment. Founders Rajat Jain, Arpit Jain, Sabit Rawat, Nitin Chandola and Saurabh Badola started exploring technology-based solutions following the loss of a college friend and subsequently developed the Spandan platform.
Rajat Jain, Co-Founder of Sunfox Technologies, said the funding will provide the resources to expand the company beyond its Dehradun base, while continuing investments in R&D and building capabilities for global markets.
Spandan enables frontline healthcare workers to capture ECG readings using the platform and share them with remote doctors for interpretation. Critical patterns can then be identified and cases escalated for further treatment, helping reduce waiting and travel time, particularly in areas with limited access to specialised cardiac care.
According to the company, around 60,000 Spandan devices have been deployed across India, reaching more than 20,000 villages across states and Union Territories. The Spandan One platform has been used to screen approximately 5 million patients annually.
Sunfox has also received recognition across national and international platforms, including acknowledgement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, French President Emmanuel Macron and philanthropist Bill Gates.
The company currently has regulatory approvals in India, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa, while it is pursuing clearances in the United States and European Union.
Sunfox plans to use the Series A funding to expand its India-built cardiac diagnostics platform domestically while strengthening regulatory, distribution and commercial capabilities in international markets, including the US, Europe and Africa.
