TetraScience, Thermo Fisher Collaborate to Accelerate AI in Biopharma R&D and Manufacturing

TetraScience has collaborated with Thermo Fisher Scientific to accelerate the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across biopharmaceutical research, development and manufacturing. The collaboration focuses on transforming scientific data into AI-native formats and deploying intelligent workflows at scale to improve productivity, reproducibility and time to market.

As the cost and complexity of developing new therapies continue to rise, biopharma companies are increasingly turning to Scientific AI to streamline operations and enhance decision-making. However, the full potential of AI remains constrained by fragmented laboratory ecosystems, where instruments and informatics systems from multiple vendors generate incompatible data formats, semantics and workflows. This fragmentation limits the ability to build scalable, high-impact AI solutions.

TetraScience addresses this challenge through its vendor-agnostic Scientific Data Foundry and Scientific Use Case Factory, which convert experimental data from diverse laboratory instruments into standardised, deployable and AI-enabled scientific workflows. Under the collaboration, TetraScience will integrate Thermo Fisher’s instrumentation and informatics solutions, helping biopharmaceutical organisations unlock the value of their scientific data at scale.

The partnership also brings together Tetra AI, TetraScience’s intelligence layer that connects data and workflows to guide scientific decision-making, with Thermo Fisher’s AI capabilities. Together, the combined solutions aim to power high-value use cases across R&D and manufacturing, improving throughput, scalability and reproducibility in drug development.

Commenting on the collaboration, Patrick Grady, CEO of TetraScience, said that scientific AI cannot succeed on fragmented systems or bespoke workflows. The operationalising AI requires harmonised, context-rich scientific data aligned to specific use cases. The collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific will enable biopharmaceutical organisations to replace siloed processes with an AI-native scientific operating system that continuously improves as it learns from each experiment and workflow.”

Sean Baumann, Vice President, Digital and AI, Life Sciences, Diagnostics and Applied at Thermo Fisher Scientific, said the company’s mission to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer drives its focus on innovation. He noted that leveraging AI is a natural extension of this mission and that the collaboration with TetraScience strengthens Thermo Fisher’s ability to help customers automate and scale laboratory data management, ultimately accelerating scientific breakthroughs across the biopharmaceutical industry.

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment by both companies to advance interoperable, industry-aligned Scientific AI solutions. Initial efforts will focus on high-value scientific workflows at select global biopharmaceutical organisations, many of which already use combined solutions from TetraScience and Thermo Fisher Scientific. This existing foundation is expected to support broader adoption and industry-wide impact over time.
