Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced a strategic data collaboration with HealthVerity to strengthen data-driven clinical development and real-world evidence generation for biopharmaceutical companies.
Under the agreement, Thermo Fisher’s PPD clinical research business will gain enterprise-level access to HealthVerity’s taXOnomy claims dataset, which covers more than 270 million de-identified patient records across the United States healthcare system. The collaboration also provides access to over 70 curated data sources, including electronic medical records, laboratory data and specialty datasets.
The integration of these datasets is expected to enhance insights into disease prevalence, treatment patterns and healthcare provider activity. Leveraging advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, the PPD clinical research business aims to improve trial feasibility, optimise site selection, accelerate patient recruitment and strengthen real-world evidence generation.
The collaboration will also support Thermo Fisher’s health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) capabilities, including its PPD CorEvitas Clinical Registries and PPD Evidera solutions. By enabling faster analytics and access to linked longitudinal datasets, the partnership is expected to improve study design, execution and overall clinical development timelines.
Both companies emphasised that the collaboration maintains strict privacy protections and robust data governance standards while expanding access to high-quality healthcare data. The move builds on Thermo Fisher’s ongoing investment in digital innovation to deliver more efficient and precise clinical research solutions.
HealthVerity, known for its privacy-protected real-world data exchange, will support the initiative by enabling seamless access to one of the industry’s largest integrated healthcare data ecosystems, helping life sciences organisations make more informed decisions across clinical and commercial stages.
