In a significant step towards bolstering India's healthcare infrastructure, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, inaugurated several key facilities.
These include the Accident and Emergency Block at Lady Hardinge Kriplani Hospital, the New Hostel Block at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Research (ABVIMS) and Dr. RML Hospital, the Sports Injury Centre at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) and Safdarjung Hospital, and the Academic block & New Hostel Block at Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing.
During the inauguration, Dr. Mandaviya stressed the importance of a wellness approach, stating, "As current and future doctors, we must orient our approach of wellness towards deferring ailments and diseases, and the integrative approach is going to play an important role in propagating wellness to keep ailments away."
The Union Health Minister highlighted the changing dynamics of the health sector in India, emphasizing the government's commitment to work holistically with synergy between preventive healthcare and modern medical facilities.
He applauded the initiatives undertaken to extend healthcare services to remote areas, stating, "The government is constantly working to foster equality in healthcare services, striving to make them affordable and accessible through initiatives like Ayushman Bharat."
Dr. Mandaviya underscored the government's efforts to boost health infrastructure, reduce the cost of treatment for the poor, and increase the number of doctors. He mentioned that the number of medical colleges has more than doubled in the last 9 years, contributing to a rapid increase in the number of MBBS, PG, and Nursing seats.
Highlighting India's four-tier healthcare system, Dr. Mandaviya mentioned institutes like Ayushman Arogya Mandir, established across rural and urban areas, which provide a breadth of healthcare services and connect the underserved with secondary and tertiary level consultations, saving time and money for patients.
Dr. Mandaviya also emphasized India's global commitment to health services, stating, "India's medical and healthcare services extend beyond our borders, embracing the entire world. This commitment is grounded in our philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'."
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior government officials, eminent dignitaries, faculty members, and students of various medical institutions.
