X-trodes' Smart Skin Receives FDA Clearance for Wireless Wearable Monitoring Technology

X-trodes' Smart Skin Receives FDA Clearance for Wireless Wearable Monitoring Technology

X-trodes, a bio-convergence company specializing in wireless monitoring solutions, has announced that its Smart Skin solution (marketed as X-trodes System M) has received 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

This innovative technology represents a new era in wearable monitoring, offering advanced electrophysiological data acquisition without the need for cumbersome wires or gels.

The Smart Skin system comprises customizable dry-printed multi-modal electrode patches capable of monitoring a wide range of biopotential signals from anywhere on the body. It can acquire EEG (brain activity), EKG/ECG (cardiac monitoring), EOG (eye movement), and EMG (muscle activity) data with ease. The discreet patches are comfortable to wear, requiring no wires or uncomfortable solutions.

The FDA clearance follows an extensive scientific assessment demonstrating the accuracy and consistency of X-trodes' system. The performance of the Smart Skin technology was found to be equivalent to that of FDA-cleared clinical electrophysiology devices, ensuring reliable monitoring capabilities.

According to Ziv Peremen, PhD, CEO of X-trodes, "The X-trodes system represents the next generation of wearable and fully wireless solutions, empowering clinicians and researchers to access real-time electrophysiological data with unprecedented accuracy. FDA clearance validates the value of this technology and its potential to enhance health and wellness outcomes."

Smart Skin is already available to researchers seeking highly accurate electrophysiological signal measurement outside of traditional laboratory settings. With FDA clearance, X-trodes aims to further validate the technology for various clinical applications, focusing initially on cardiovascular and sleep monitoring markets.

Dr. Deganit Barak Shinar, VP of clinical affairs at X-trodes, emphasized the potential of Smart Skin to revolutionize patient care. "Our medical-grade multi-modal solution offers a configurable remote monitoring system suitable for neurology and cardiology departments, both in clinical and home settings. This advancement has the potential to significantly improve the provision of care."

Traditionally, electrophysiological monitoring has been confined to clinics due to the requirement for cumbersome hardware and controlled environments. X-trodes' Smart Skin changes this paradigm, offering a completely wireless solution that provides continuous medical-grade monitoring in any environment.

Backed by over 15 years of research at Tel Aviv University's neuroengineering lab and supported by scientifically validated patents, X-trodes' technology represents a leap forward in wearable monitoring capabilities.
